Listening to: Dracula's Wedding by Outkast
So, as I've been reading numerous blogs as of late, I've decided I want my blog to be something more. This will be my thinking pod and my cannon I will shoot questions out of to whomever to get some feedback on various marriage prep questions or issues.
So, I'll start with the following question:
What are the top three things that you would or do expect in a husband (if male, just pretend you weren't for a while. Pull on your panties and hook your bra and answer the question, please.)?
Until later.

I hope that my husband will always be...
1. Listening to and following God. (When I said "I do" I agreed to follow Him anywhere...I and our kids need Him to only tread where God leads)
2. Forgiving and gentle. (I make mistakes and I love that my husband is tender with me as he agrees to love me just as I am)
3. Masculine (I don't want him to be like me...I and my kids need him to be a MAN...protective, hardworking, strong, active.)
Just for the record...Rayden has been these things since the day I met him...My job is continually to pray for him and help him be the man God wants him to be...so far so good! =)
1) Be supportive. Every pre-marriage book I read said that husbands need, more than anything, to be told how much he is respected. I agree, but add this - so do wives.
2) Push me to be better. This sort of contradicts point one, but it is so necessary. When I got laid off two months ago, the first thing Paul said was 'I'm so proud of you. You were a great receptionist. But I know you can be SO much more.' I passed my insurance licensing exam today, but I couldn't have if Paul hadn't pushed me to be more than a receptionist.
3) Be my opposite. I agree with the last comment - I have the girl parts. As much as the college Mandy would have kicked my butt for it, I cook and clean and do all the wifely things. I can't re-build an engine. I suck at accounting. I avoid confrontation at all costs. In our marriage, those are my husband's jobs, and I love him for it.
You'll be awesome, Nic. But good for you for seeking advice. That's the sign of a marriage that will last forever.
1) Cognizant that I am a girl. He is not. I don't need him to really understand why my outfits always need to match or why I cry at everything, but I need him to get that it's ok for me to do those things. Because it's part of the make-up of who I am.
2) Able to be individual. Yes, there are things that a couple shares - common interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes, but I need to be able to say "This is my thing. This is your thing." Let free time be a part of life. Sometimes I am positive I won't always want to be around my husband, and I need him to get that. It's not about him - it's about still maintaining individuality in our togetherness.
3) The God thing. If He loves God, he'll love me. And if he loves me, I can trust that he'll do what's right for me and our family.
You know I could talk about this all day, but just know I love ya and I support you. =)
